April 2015

Another busy Easter educational shut down completing numerous service and NICEIC electrical condition reports against tight deadlines. Otago Blue Ltd are still finding original lanterns with ‘Rockbestos’ cabling still in use!
Otago Blue Ltd has been providing site call outs to a number of new clients to assist in trouble shooting and repairing issues by other installers’ mistakes.
Telephone assistance provided to numerous clients in the panic coming up to the GCSE and A level Drama practical exams – mainly control desk assistance.   
 

March – April 2015

Otago Blue Ltd successfully completed a challenging installation at The Arts Educational Schools London to create a theatrical teaching and performance space within the schools existing dance studio.
Initially contracted to install lighting bars and curtain tracks suspended from the building structure it soon became obvious that this would not be possible and a change of plan was needed.
The solution was an impressive free standing trussing structure using Trilite 200 from Optikinetics Ltd powder coated in black. This was a custom manufacture and Otago Blue Ltd managed to complete the installation during a small shut down period to achieve the customer’s tight deadlines.
The new Chilli Bypass dimmers from Zero88 were installed and commissioned.
 

March 2015

Otago Blue Ltd completed a dimmer and distribution board change at Finchley Youth Theatre, London.
The old dimmers and cord patch bay were replaced with Zero88 Chilli 24 way hard-wired dimmers. In addition direct fixture power outlets were provided across the venue with associated DMX control outlets wired back to rack mount DMX splitters.
The works were carefully planned and completed around tight time restrictions keeping the venue in use for day and evening events.
 

December 2014 - January 2015

Sexey’s School, Bruton called Otago Blue Ltd to value engineer a solution to refurbish their original stage lighting system having received excessive design proposals from other companies.
Working closely with the school we refurbished the existing front of house system and installed new local power distribution, dimmers and internally wired lighting bars above stage. Linking the two systems together we achieved a comprehensive cost effective solution for the client.

November 2014

Richard Parker successfully completed ‘Authorised Service Centre Training’ at Electronic Theatre Controls Ltd (ETC). This was to assist in the installation and service of ETC’s Sensor and Unison Dimmers and associated architectural control systems for a major client in the Cruise ship industry.
 

October 2014

Otago Blue Ltd were called back to one of their early lighting, rigging and audio visual design and build projects in 2005 at Friern Barnet School, North London to undertake changes and upgrades due to a change of room configuration and the installation of racked seating.
We were required to move the main control position, which included re-routing the audio, video and DMX tie lines and upgrading other parts of the systems.
A system service and electrical inspection and test was completed to provide many more trouble free years of service.
 

August - September 2014

Otago Blue Ltd works closely with Audio Visual Southwest Ltd completing a range of audiovisual projects in universities and colleges in the South of England.
 

February – August 2014 

Otago Blue Ltd working as a specialist sub-contractor undertook a lengthy and detailed six-month design contract for an international system integrator. The end client commissioned the design services for the entertainment systems for a new 150,000ton vessel for the Asian market. Otago Blue Ltd were integral in the design process including constant travelling attending regular meetings in Germany.
The entertainment venues included a full-scale theatre, numerous high profile entertainment venues, nightclubs and outdoor party areas. Entertainment and client satisfaction being one of the owner’s main priorities.
 

December 2013 – February 2014

Otago Blue Ltd appointed and the specialist AV contractor for a new build at Nunnery Wood High School, Worcester.
Otago Blue Ltd provided full design, supply, installation, commissioning and training on the Lighting, Audio, Video and AMX control system.
Working with Summit Electrical Installations Ltd, the main electrical contractor, we supplied and installed the dimming, internally wired lighting bars, data and control systems. Following building handover the systems were completed with the supply and installation of the audiovisual source and processing equipment. The system was commissioned and full training provided to the client.
