Sexey’s School

Type: Theatre Lighting System Refurbishment

Our Solutions

Sexey’s School in Bruton had its stage rigging condemned and removed a few years ago and after struggling with shows using temporary equipment decided to find a permanent solution. They approached Otago Blue Ltd and other companies to tender for the refit works.  However, without a specification, each contractor had to propose a solution for the client. As budgets were restricted, we proposed to value engineer a solution integrating the newer part of the stage lighting system installed in the hall area with a new system on the stage area including dimming, internally wired bars, DMX distribution, direct power and curtain tracks and curtains. We were awarded the contract based on our cost-effective proposal.

Due to the spacing of the secondary steelwork above the stage traditional aluminium barrel would not have been suitable therefore we proposed custom ladder truss manufactured by Andolite Ltd integrating the stage lighting sockets and wiring and also to support the rear curtain track. A new local distribution board with RCD protected circuits for 16amp fixture power outlets was installed with additional circuits provided front of house. A Zero88 Chilli 2410i was installed to power the above stage circuits and the low-level stage boxes which complemented the existing front of house dimmer. A distributed DMX distribution system was installed throughout the venue and to link the two separate dimmers.

The main installation was undertaken before the Christmas closure with final commissioning and training completed in the New Year. Another happy client!
